Avinash Kenkare is a private equity professional with 40 + years of successful private equity investing experience. Avinash co-founded Somerset Indus Capital Partners and focuses on fund raising, fund management, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, monitoring and value addition efforts at Somerset.

Prior to founding Somerset Indus Capital Partners LLC, Avinash was a Managing Partner of Somerset Healthcare Advisors, LLC, and worked for Health Evolution Partners, a $500 million US based healthcare focused private equity fund, co-leading their efforts in investing in life sciences companies primarily in the US.  He joined DLJ Investment Banking in 1998 and DLJ Merchant Banking in 1999. Since joining the Merchant Banking group, he concentrated on DLJMB’s healthcare initiatives, working on most of DLJMBP III’s healthcare transactions, including Warner Chilcott, Accellent, Nycomed, Kinetic Concepts, and Thiemann. He also worked for The Carlyle Group in New York focused on Carlyle’s healthcare investments. He served as a Director of Nycomed Pharma, BioPartners, Next Pharma Technologies, Accellent Corporation and Focus Diagnostics. And, prior to DLJ, he ran CASI, Inc., an engineering consulting company.

He graduated from Howard University magna cum laude in 1982 and Lehigh University in 1984 and received an MBA with Distinction from Wharton in 1998

Mayur has over 35 years of experience across the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, and FMCG sectors, with roles spanning Private Equity, Strategy, Advisory Services, Operations, Manufacturing, and Marketing. Mayur co-founded Somerset Indus Capital Partners and focuses on fund raising, new investments, building deal pipelines as well as working on value addition initiatives at an operating and strategic level for portfolio companies.

Prior to founding Somerset, Mayur was an Executive Director at Lexicon Healthcare, a Strategic Advisory Firm involved in cross border healthcare transactions with Israel, Australia and Japan. In this period, he established a Medical device company based on Israeli MedTech in the areas of sleep apnoea and cardiac diagnostics as well as a dental stem cell banking & research start-up.  Earlier, at IMS Health, a global healthcare consulting company, he set up their India practice, wherein he advised major MNC and Indian Companies on their Growth Strategies and Market Entry strategies in India. Prior to this, he served as a Director of Kare Group – his family run contract manufacturing group wherein he developed strong operations experience across Manufacturing and Marketing. Earlier, at German Remedies, he headed the business development function wherein he led OTC and M&A initiatives and at Colgate Palmolive, he was a member of the strategy and special projects group wherein he was involved in company M&A activities as well as new manufacturing projects.

He has also been involved in the Healthcare start up space wherein he has mentored several healthcare entrepreneurs. He is on the Advisory Board of SINE (IIT Bombay business incubator) as a mentor and is a key member of the Healthcare Special Interest Group (SIG) of the IIT Bombay Alumni Association. He is also on the Evaluation committee of the govt. biotech incubator BIRAC for their BIG grant proposals and also serves on the Board of Directors of the IIT Bombay Alumni Association.

Mayur graduated from IIT Bombay in Chemical Engineering in 1987 and then did a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA in Finance from University of Texas at Austin.

Ramesh Kannan has over 40 years of healthcare consulting and has experience across management, business, finance with expertise in business strategy, innovation, and organizational transformation. At Somerset, he focuses on fund raising, managing investor relations, deal sourcing, evaluation, concluding the deal, monitoring and value addition efforts.

His previous work includes advising companies on resource raising across debt, structured debt, equity, and private equity. He has supported organizations in strategic initiatives such as local consolidation, regional aggregation, pan-India expansion, and global integration, while facilitating strategic partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts. He has worked with several healthcare delivery groups in South India to raise private equity funding and is well versed with the deal structuring, documentation, and monitoring processes followed by the PE community.

He has also advised a wide range of healthcare organizations including RV Hospitals, Vasantha Subramanian Hospitals (VS Hospitals), VS Biotech, Muthu Medicals, Gunasheela IVF, NU Hospitals, NU Trust, Kosmoderma Clinics, , Sparsh Nephrocare, Jananam Fertility, Qikwell, Impulse Technologies, Dhiti Omics, Sahyadri Hospitals, Vikram Hospitals, HCG ( BIO & Curie ), Indus Health Plus, Image Hospitals Jhankaria Imaging (now SRL), Mallya Hospital, GVN Hospitals, Express Clinics, White Cross Clinics, White Lotus Clinics, ISIS Medicare, Pinnacle, CK Group, Ayurvaid, Fungroo, Evolko, Arvee Synthesis, Vanguard Therapeutics, Genotypic, QTLomics, Motherhood and Cloud 9, among others.

He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Vaibhav is a highly accomplished finance professional with over 20 + years of experience across private equity, investment banking, and Capital markets. At Somerset, he focuses on fund raising, fund management, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, monitoring and value addition efforts.

Prior to Somerset, he served as Director (Healthcare) at Creador (Emerging markets Focused growth equity fund), where he has successfully managed major investments in domestic formulations, Pharma packaging company and a Hospital. He played an active role in business development, GTM strategy and M&A in various portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Creador, Vaibhav spent five years in the investment banking teams at some of India’s leading domestic investment banks such as Edelweiss Capital. In his investment banking career he has vast experience spanning buy out and Minority transactions. He has also advised several PE funds on exits and have managed several IPOs . He was also with Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI) – Citi’s emerging markets PE business for five years where he was involved in Buyouts and growth equity transactions. 

Vaibhav completed his MBA with Dean’s List honours from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and has a Bachelor in Management Studies from University of Mumbai. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Abhishek is an investment professional with over 20 + years of experience across private equity, venture capital and investment banking. Abhishek joined Somerset in 2024 and focuses on fund raising, fund management, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, monitoring and value addition efforts at Somerset.

He has held key positions in Investment teams at SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd. and GVFL Ltd., as well as contributing to renowned Investment Banks like Centrum Capital Ltd., Caparo Financial Solutions Ltd., and SMC Capitals Limited.

Abhishek holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagpur University and an MBA from Nirma University.

Salonee is a strategy and corporate development leader with over 15 years of experience specializing in M&A, cross-border deals, integration, AI-led product strategy, and global growth.Salonee joined Somerset in 2026 and focuses on fund management, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, monitoring and value addition efforts at Somerset.

Prior to joining Somerset, Salonee served as Associate Director – Strategy & Corporate Development at Cactus Communications, where she led acquisitions in Switzerland and the UK, successfully managed post-merger integration, and played a pivotal role in scaling the Life Sciences business through a combination of strategic investments and operational initiatives. She also spearheaded the launch of a new business line in China and partnered closely with the board on enterprise-level strategic priorities, including AI-driven product strategy.

Earlier in her career, Salonee advised on strategic sales and fundraises at BDA Partners and worked as an independent consultant, supporting clients on cross-border transactions and growth strategy mandates.

Salonee holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Mumbai .

Ashwin is an investment professional with over 5 years of investing experience. He joined Somerset in 2019 and focuses on investment opportunity evaluation & analysis, monitoring, ESG and fund Reporting functions.

Prior to Somerset, he worked with a boutique private equity consulting firm where he was responsible for conducting investment due-diligence, industry research, market mapping and other strategy related projects for US middle market private equity firms. Previously, he also worked as a trainee with EY in the valuation and business modeling team and was involved in valuations of private and public companies for M&A and regulatory purposes.

He holds a MBA (Tech.) degree from NMIMS, Mumbai.

Dhaval is an investment professional with over 5 years of investing experience. Dhaval joined Somerset in 2021 and focuses on Investment Opportunity evaluation & analysis, monitoring, ESG and Fund Reporting functions.

Prior to joining Somerset, Dhaval worked as an Investment Banking Associate and Strategy Consultant with a boutique Indian Investment Banking Firm for over 3 years handling deal execution, financial modelling, deal structuring and streamlining business strategies for clients across various sectors. Dhaval also worked with BDO India LLP as part of his CA Articled training program handling Corporate Tax Compliances.

Dhaval is a Chartered Accountant by qualification and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from SIES College.

Raj joined Somerset in 2024 and supports the fund on the Investment opportunity evaluation & analysis, Portfolio Management & Monitoring, ESG and Fund Reporting front.

Before joining Somerset, Raj worked with MGR Financial Services where he primarily handled the business development of financial products and analyzed consumer behaviour patterns. He holds Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.

Raj holds a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar.

He holds an MBA degree with dual specialisation in Finance & Investment and Leadership & Strategy from BITS School of Management (BITSoM), BITS Pilani.

Darvesh joined Somerset in 2026 and supports the fund on the Investment opportunity evaluation & analysis, Portfolio Management & Monitoring, ESG and Fund Reporting front.

Prior to joining Somerset, Darvesh worked as a Process Engineer – Technology Transfer at Anthem Biosciences, where he led more than five API technology transfers, delivering yield improvements of 10–15%. He also executed risk-based process validations and conducted comprehensive raw material assessments to enhance manufacturing robustness and efficiency.

In the private equity space, Darvesh interned with Somerset Indus Capital Partners and Caprae Capital, where he built integrated financial and LBO models for live transactions totaling ₹160 Cr, supported a US$15 million DFI fundraising initiative, and leveraged AI-driven tools to strengthen deal sourcing and execution efficiency.

Darvesh has completed his MBA from BITS School of Management (BITSoM), Mumbai.

Pragya is an investment professional with over two years of investing experience. She joined Somerset in 2026 and focuses on investment opportunity evaluation and analysis, monitoring, ESG, and fund reporting functions.

Prior to joining Somerset, Pragya spent over two years as a Senior Analyst with a KPO, handling deal execution, financial modelling, and valuation analysis for a UK-based PE client focused on health tech and resource efficiency. She also worked with Godrej Properties as part of her summer internship during her MBA.

Pragya completed her MBA (PGDM) from MDI Gurgaon, has cleared two levels of the CFA Program, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Hons.) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
